Enter the 2007 Home Baking Association Educator Contest and Win $1000.00 and a Trip to Florida

Topeka, Kansas (PRWEB) May 9, 2007 -- Baking educators with creative ideas have an opportunity to win $1,000 and a trip to Florida for the Home Baking Association (HBA) Annual Meeting in September. Each year the HBA has recognized outstanding educators with innovative programs for teaching kids of all ages to bake in communities and classrooms throughout the nation.

Family and consumer science educators and youth leaders for 4-H, Boys and Girls Clubs, Camp Fire USA and other after-school or community programs are encouraged to share their successful baking programs. Youth who have developed baking lessons that teach other youth to bake are also invited to enter. Entries may be classroom lessons, baking activities or projects that have encouraged children to bake.

The 2006 Educator Award Winner was Connie Nieman, a Family & Consumer Science Educator at Olathe North High School in Kansas. Nieman was recognized for her baking lesson, "Building Skills in Baking and Food Sciences". The Home Baking Association annually provides national recognition for educators that implement outstanding, interdisciplinary baking education programs.

The HBA believes baking plays an important role in the development of healthy children that are socially and academically well-rounded.     Baking provides an opportunity to share family time and a joy of baking for others. Each year the association seeks to reward educators who have implemented outstanding programs that teach children to bake and share baking in their communities.

Additional information, an application form for the 2007 Home Baking Association Educator Award and previous award winning lesson plans can be found on the HBA Web site, homebaking.org. The deadline for entries is May 31, 2007. Entries may be mailed or entered online.

The HBA is a national, nonprofit trade association. Realizing today's students are tomorrow's parents and professionals, the HBA supports their development by producing quality educational materials. Twenty-six corporate and association members also provide excellent baking resources. For more information on HBA resource materials and a list of member resources, please visit the Web site at homebaking.org.
